① Buddhism is a form of cultural education aimed at helping human society cultivate a spirit of mutual trust, respect, love, and mutual assistance.
② The simplest and most direct method is to teach people how to face their thoughts and behaviors in a way that aligns with healthy values, utilize positive energy, and choose a lifestyle that benefits both themselves and others.
③ A healthy and happy life requires learning to let go of oneself, writing down three things worth appreciating and being grateful for each day, cultivating the ability to be grateful, and developing a habit of being grateful for small things.
④ The essence of Buddhism lies in the fact that true liberation and great wisdom in life stem from ceasing the struggle with oneself, no longer creating difficulties for oneself, and changing past unrealistic attachments, including chaotic thoughts, delusions, and discrimination.
Fable: A couple went shopping in town and needed to cross a swift river. On the riverbank, they met a young woman. Because she was wearing a long dress, her face was full of worry, and she was afraid of getting her clothes dirty in the deep water, she dared not cross the river.Seeing this, the kind husband stepped forward without hesitation and carried the woman across the river. The woman thanked him repeatedly and left satisfied.
After setting the woman down, the couple continued their journey. However, after walking for over an hour, the wife grew increasingly agitated and finally complained to her husband, "Did that woman really need you to carry her across the river? Don't you have any other motives? Did you even ask me if I minded?"
He calmly replied, "I put her down a long time ago. You've been walking for over an hour, and you're still thinking about her?"
Hearing this, the wife suddenly understood.
Carrying someone is a form of torment: The woman had long since left, but the wife continued to "carry" her in her heart, emotionally punishing herself with the woman's actions.
For example, she felt jealousy, resentment, pettiness, anxiety, and regret, repeatedly tormenting her inner self. What should have been a joyful experience, bringing happiness to someone else, turned into a farcical scene of blame, potentially even leading to arguments and harm. This is because she refused to let go of her ego, unconsciously bound by an obsession.
Life is short, and the real winner is the one who doesn't strive for victory: the true winner in life is not the one who defeats others, but the one who wins back their own happiness and peace.
